Amazon Map Tracking lets you track package delivery live
If you've ever wanted to know exactly where your Amazon package is on delivery day, now you can find that out. Amazon Map Tracking is now available for all U.S. customers and does what the name suggests. You'll be able to track your package on a map in real time, get an estimated delivery time, and see how many stops it is away. AndroidPolice first spotted the larger rollout, and Amazon has confirmed the launch to Mashable. "The Amazon Map Tracking feature is another delivery innovation we are working on to improve convenience for our customers and provide them greater visibility into their deliveries," an Amazon spokesperson said in an emailed statement. A big caveat: FedEx, UPS, and USPS packages aren't eligible. Only deliveries handled by Amazon logistics will get the live tracking. It's available in most major cities, like NYC and San Fransisco, but smaller towns are missing. People already can become obsessive about delivery timing (I'm one of them), and Amazon is answering the call for these customers. A few Twitter users have taken note that the Amazon app will send you a push notification letting you know how close your package is, and letting you know live tracking is available. Amazon isn't the first to provide live tracking of packages: UPS has offered a similar feature for select packages, but its not comprehensive. Amazon's Key delivery service gives you the option of delivery inside your home as an alternative to leaving the package outside. Key expanded to vehicles in April, which allows some cars to serve as delivery points for packages if your manufacturers have partnered with the tech giant. The service has raised some privacy concerns, however, as delivery men and women have access to your home or car.Tweet may have been deleted
