Facebook's 'M' can now give you suggestions in Spanish

Users of Facebook's "M" — an artificial intelligence powered component of the Messenger application — can now choose from two languages: English or Spanish.

The tech company announced the addition yesterday, saying M users will be able to select one of the two languages to use the app, which provides users suggestions based on their conversation.

Facebook rolled out the AI-powered program in April.

"To experience M, simply chat with a friend or a group as you normally would," the company wrote on Facebook. "When M detects a conversation relevant to the topics listed above, you'll see the M logo and suggestion - it's that simple!"

"M" is capable of simple things, like suggesting stickers to fit a conversation. But it's capable of more complex tasks, too. It can help you order a ride from Uber or Lyft, or set up a poll while making plans with friends, the company said.

There's no difference in what M can do based on users' language preference.

While M is available in the U.S. and Mexico, other locations will have to wait before they can get their hands on feature. Facebook's Messenger Chief, David Marcus said in April that it will take years before the program is available for everyone.

UPDATE: June 16, 2017, 2:50 p.m. EDT This story was updated to include Mexico as a compatible location with the the "M" component of Messenger. A previous version of the story only included the U.S. as a recipient of the program.
